I picked up this beautiful piece of green sea glass on the beach in the summer time, while collecting sea shells. I've encased it in a looped netting of sterling silver. It is very securely fastened with a loop of sterling silver wire from which this small treasure hangs. The piece reminds me of a fishing net, pulling a gem from the sea. I've hung the pendant on silk fabric sewn into a cord that is dyed sea foam green. A hand made hook clasp finishes the piece. The necklace measures 19 inches in length. The pendant is 1 1/2 inches long by 1/2 inch at it's widest point. (38 x 13 mm.)
This is a one of a kind piece. I don't make these types of netted glass necklaces very often so they are special.
A bottle, carelessly flung into the sea by a litterbug has been refashioned by nature. The broken pieces are gently worn down by the movement of the water and sand over time into lovely bits of frosty colored glass. Sea glass or beach glass is a beautiful product of man and nature.
